GONE WITHOUT A TRACE by Mary Torjussen is a chilling, twisty, compulsive thriller about a woman whose boyfriend has vanished. Fans of I LET YOU GO and THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN will be gripped.
No one ever disappears completely…
You leave for work one morning.
Another day in your normal life.
Until you come home to discover that your boyfriend has gone.
His belongings have disappeared.
He hasn’t been at work for weeks.
It’s as if he never existed.
But that’s not possible, is it?
And there is worse still to come.
Because just as you are searching for him
someone is also watching you.
The plot is full of twists and turns. Every chapter unfolds something new which complicates the matter even more. This resulted in me staying glued to the book, especially in the second half. The twist halfway into the second half completely caught me off guard and made the story do a 360. At this point, I knew I couldn’t stop until I finished the book, and that is what I did. The pace in the first half is slow and the elements of the story here are a bit repetitive, which irritated me at times. But once I crossed the mid-point, the pace rockets higher and there was no stopping. The second half was completely perplexing and at the same time, the puzzle started fitting in. And the end of the story found me with my jaw dropped. It was that good! Had an amazing time with this book.
Final Verdict-
Gone Without A Trace by Mary Torjussen gets 4 out of 5 stars from me.
